The dog ate my blog post?

28 Jun

It did, I swear it did!

No, honestly, I have no excuse for my almost month-long absence. I’m not sure what I’ve been up to all the time, either, so it’s probably nothing big. I’ll give you a few highlights though:

I went to Norrköping, Sweden, and it was awesome. The city, that is. I went there for a work-related gathering (an archive conference) that was interesting enough professionally, and quite good socially. I met a few cool people, and even though I had to moderate my accent to have the Swedes, Danes, Icelanders (?) and Finnish understand me, it was nice. Also? I moderate my accent so much better after close to half a bottle of wine.

If I’d stopped after that half bottle (most of it was drunk during dinner – I can’t be blamed for servers refilling my glass, you know), the next day would probably have been better. However, my coworker and I decided that since we hardly ever go out, we should take this opportunity (her having no kids to take care of, me being semi drunk already, and the exchange rate being in our favour) to hit a bar. So we did. 2.5 drinks later (I had two and finished her second, because I hate seeing good drinks going to waste) we stumbled back to our hotel, and I proceeded to fall into bed, then drag myself out to the bathroom to throw up. Very glamorous. It made me remember why I don’t drink too often. Also! I was chatted up in the bar, by a German guy of all things. He opened our conversation with “So…you come here often?”.

It was awesome.

The day after I returned from Sweden, I took the train north to go home and attend my grandmother’s funeral. It was lovely being home for a week, even though the occasion wasn’t the best.

While home, I got sick and it sucked, but I got a whole lot of time with my DS and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

I got back to Trondheim to discover that Tor had turned the guest room into a walk-in closet. Kinda awesome, but also a little…what? He told me that he’d spent the most time sorting my clothes, which of course means that I find some of it in the strangest places.

Now I’m back at work, and for the past week plus the coming week I’m in charge, which is…interesting. I have to go to a few meetings that my boss would normally attend, and it all makes my days much different from how they normally are.

A heatwave has hit the region, which is just fabulous. Seriously. We went to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and I wore only a pair of short-shorts and a tank top, and when we got out of the theater at 23:30 it was STILL WARM. I wish it could be like this always. I have no need for snow.

That’s pretty much what I’ve been doing the past month. How about you? Are any of you still around, or have you given up on me? What’s the weather like? Do you have a dog? If yes, is it German?
